Subsea foundation
A subsea foundation 1 in the form of a suction anchor 2 with a central pipe 8 having separable upper 10 and lower 12 pipe portions, and a method of deploying. The upper pipe portion may be within the suction skirt 4 cylinder without extending form the base. The lower portion, when connected, may extend from the base. The lower pipe portion may be connectable to the outside of the suction skirt 4 in a stowed position for transportation. During deployment subsea, the lower portion may be disconnected from the stowed position and fall below the anchor, where is may be suspended by “pull-in” lines 24, which may then be retracted to draw the lower portion towards the upper portion. The lower portion may include overlapping section 18 with a large diameter than either pipe portion to overlap the joint when the portions are pulled together. The pipe is then forced into the seabed when the suction anchor is operated, to provide an upper part of an oil well string/well head. There are multiple independent claims including different parts of the apparatus/method.
