A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
A former tray (4) having a first upper face 20, a drainage aperture 12 for allowing fluid to flow to the underside of the tray, and an installation and inspection access opening 16 through the tray with a plate 8 for positioning over and closing the opening. There may be two openings and two plates, one plate 6 including the drainage aperture 12 located in a recessed drainage gully 10 for directing water to the opening. The tray may be sloped or inclined and include flow lines (44, Fig. 1) for guiding water to the gully. The plates may locate on rebated skirt flanges (46, Fig. 1) in the openings so that they lie flush with the upper face of the tray. A method of installing includes locating the tray on floor joists in a bathroom via screw locations (24, Fig 1), connecting the drainage opening to a building’s waste drainage system via the access opening, checking for leaks, installing the plate over the access opening, and optionally tiling over the tray. A tray with an access opening for receiving covering plates with a flush surface is also claimed.
