A shutter joining member includes a first shutter connecting portion 104 and a second shutter connecting portion 106. The second shutter connecting portion is joined to the first shutter connecting portion by a coupling 108. The connecting portions define planar surfaces (4a, 6a, fig 1a) and subtend between them an angle from 90o to 180o. The coupling may be rigid such that the connecting portions are angularly fixed relative to each other. Each connecting portion may include one or more shutter connecting elements, which may take the form of leg portions 110a-b, 114a-b, with locating lugs 112a-b, 116a-b. These lugs may be received in longitudinal slots of first and second shutter side frame members 122, 124 of respective first and second shutters. A shutter assembly may be formed by using the joining member to retain first and second shutters in a fixed relationship, whilst light strike may also be minimised.
