A pond cover comprising a plurality of support plates 10. Each support plate comprises at least one edge 30 which is interlockable via complementary interlocking system 40 with an edge on adjacent support plates, and thus allows for the support plates to be locked together. The plates may take the shape of any polygon or set of polygons suitable for laminar tessellation. The support plates may have a trellis-like structure consisting of diamond-shaped cells. The support plates may comprise additional interlocking means such as cable ties, hooks, studs or clips. The pond cover may also comprise support legs 52 (Figure 6) with support members 60 (Figure 6) comprising grooves 64 (Figure 6) which match the trellis-like structure of the support plates such that the two may interlock. Further disclosed is an independent claim for a support leg comprising first and second threads for adjusting the length of the leg.
