A locking device is a latch bolt type and comprises a bolt which is threaded and rotates to advance across the device towards a threaded hole with which it engages. The locking device is suitable for windows or doors. There may be alignment magnets to assist the threaded bolt and threaded bore hole in aligning. A motor may rotate the threaded bar so that it advances towards the bore hole. The locking device may be operated remotely.
