Cement activator composition for treatment of subterranean formations
A method of treating a subterranean formation which includes placing in the subterranean formation, a liquid cement activator composition comprising: 30-95wt% water; 0.001-40wt% of an alkali sulfate salt; 0.001-30wt% of a polyphosphate salt; and 0.001-30wt% of a stabilizer polymer (see accompanying structure), wherein the stabilizer polymer comprises 0.001-25mol% of a substituted ethylene repeating group A and 25-99.999mol% of a repeating group B comprising an anionic group, with the repeating groups having a block or random copolymer arrangement. The method may comprise obtaining/providing the composition above-surface or in the subterranean formation. The method can further comprise combining the cement activator composition with a cement composition e.g. pozzolana-lime, either above-surface or in the subterranean formation. This combination may also be cured. The cement composition can be a delayed-set composition. Preferably, the alkali sulfate salt is potassium sulfate and/or lithium sulfate and/or sodium sulfate, and the polyphosphate salt is a sodium polyphosphate salt e.g. sodium hexametaphosphate. The composition can also comprise 0.001-40wt% of dispersant e.g. a superplasticizer and/or a sulfonated-formaldehyde-based dispersant and/or a polycarboxylated ether. The stabilizing polymer can further comprise a repeating unit formed from a vinyl-substituted nitrogen-containing (C1-C20) heterocycle. A system which includes a tubular, pump, and the activator is also described.
