Door seal
A frame assembly 14 comprises a frame forming a closing area for a fire door 10 (fig.1), the frame assembly comprising a pre-applied intumescent strip 18 applied to an outer face of the frame such that it will be located between the frame and a wall when installed. The frame assembly may have a pre-certification in respect to fireproofness and fireproof standards prior to its installation. The frame may comprise an intumescent strip on the underside of a sill or threshold 26 (fig.4). At least one of the frame components may be a metal frame section. The intumescent strips may have a thickness between 0.5 and 6mm. The strips may also have a width of between 10 and 50mm. Also disclosed is a method of enabling pre-certification in respect of fireproofing standards, a method of using the frame assembly whereby upon installation the gap between the strip and the wall is no wider than the rated expansion distance of the strip, and a doorset or door assembly comprising a frame assembly as described and a fire door.
