Roper-ladder clamping
A rope-ladder clamping apparatus 10 affixable to a holding surface comprising a clamp housing 20 having a pair of rope clamps 60A, 60B, each rope clamp being located to receive a corresponding inter-rung rope portion 50 of said rope-ladder, each rope clamp being actuatable to clamp against a corresponding inter-rung rope portion to retain the rope ladder. Preferably each clamp is a narrowing wedge clamp comprising a pair of clamp blocks actuated by a handle to displace into a clamping configuration. The apparatus may comprise a pair of pivoting holders to receive a corresponding stanchion 70A, 70B movable between obstructing and obstructing positions. Further disclosed is a method of clamping a rope ladder. The apparatus may be used to clamp a rope ladder to the deck of a ship.
