Protective cover 1 comprises a main body formed of a deformable thermoplastic elastomer. The main body has at a first end 1a an outer wall 2 and at a second end 1b an opening to a substantially central chamber 4. At least part of the chamber is configured to deform to releasably attach the cover to a free end of a construction-related rod. The main body has inner walls 6 which are reticulated in cross-section such that they form a plurality of elongate pockets 7 arranged around the periphery of cover 1. The cover may be used to protect the free end of construction-related rods such as scaffolding bolt tails (see Figs 1-4) and exposed ends of reinforcing bars (see Figs 5-8). As shown in Figure 5, the rebar cover may comprise a secondary polygonal chamber 15 within the central chamber 11.
