Plumbing Fitting with Movable Mechanism
A plumbing fitting 100 has an outer body 101 having a flow path 102 extending therethrough, an inner body 103 disposed in the outer body, the inner body comprising a mechanism 104, such as a PICV or other known valve mechanism. The inner body is movable, preferably rotatable, between a first, operational, position (Fig 2B) in which the flow path extends through the inner body and the mechanism, a second, isolation, position (Fig 3B) in which the flow path is blocked by an outer sealing surface of the inner body, and a third position (Fig 4B) in which the flow path bypasses the mechanism via a bypass bore 118. The inner body may include a cavity within which the mechanism is releasably received, wherein the fitting can be moved to a non-operational position allowing removal and maintenance of the mechanism. The inner body may be twisted within the outer to move between positions, the motion guided in a helical path by a track (116 Fig. 6). A multi apertured seal is also disclosed for ensuring a sealed connection in each position.
