A cord spool assembly 30 suitable for an architectural covering is disclosed. It has first 40 and second spools within a housing 32 which rotate around axes parallel to one another in a first direction 1. The spools sit side by side in a second direction 2 perpendicular to the first direction and the housing has a depth in a third direction 3, perpendicular to the first and second directions. The spools draw first 20 and second 22 cords through first 74 and second 76 bottom apertures, defined in the housing, which are suitable for guiding the cord in the third direction; the housing further defines first and second 82 side apertures which are suitable for guiding the cords out of the housing in the first direction. The housing may have a guide surface 96 which transitions smoothly from the third to first directions and the housing may be in two parts. An architectural covering including the cord assembly, and a method of assembling the cord spool assembly are also disclosed.
