A flushable item 10 which is used in a toilet. It has a first portion 12 which receives faecal matter F, and a second portion 14 connected to the first portion, and which is held on a sidewall of a toilet bowl and where the second portion is formed for holding the article above the water line W of the toilet. The second portion may be designed to fold upwards and there may be a defined boundary between the portions. The first portion may be stiffer or thicker than the second portion and the second portion may surround the first portion. The first portion may be mostly circular and/or positioned centrally to the second portion. The item may include absorbent particles and/or be made from a biodegradable tissue. The item may include layers and/or be made from two-ply material.
