A modular building assembly comprises a wall assembly comprising a plurality of first wall modules extending at least partially around an enclosed space and including at a pair of opposing first wall modules; and a first floor assembly comprising a first floor module extending between the first and second opposing wall modules; wherein each of the first and second opposing wall modules comprises a mounting ledge projecting towards the other of the first and second opposing wall modules, and wherein the first floor module comprises first and second opposing end faces each defining a shoulder that is supported on the mounting ledge of one of the first and second opposing wall modules. The floor module may have stepped edges which engage the mounting ledge and may be made up of I beams with stepped ends. A further assembly with additional wall and floor modules can be mounted on top of the first assembly via co-operating locating means.
