A clamp for securing a brick line, with first 114 and second jaws 112 that are biased towards one another with a spring to grip a brick between them. One of the jaws has a surface for aligning a line with an edge of the brick gripped between the jaws and the first jaw 114 has a projecting tongue 122 engaged by formations of the second jaw to enable the jaws to slide relative to one another. The tongue is formed in two parts 122a and 122b that are slidable relative to one another and lockable via screw 122c in different relative positions to enable the length of the tongue to be varied to suit different sized bricks of different size. The first 122a of the two parts of the tongue are secured to the first jaw and the second 122b of the two parts being guided for sliding movement relative to the second jaw. The spring biasing the two jaws towards one another may be between the second jaw and the second part of the tongue.
