A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
A connector arrangement for end-to-end connection of an inline component (valve or shutter) 15 to be provided between free ends 21a , 21b of an opened conduit (pipe), the connector arrangement comprising a pipe-attaching body (stub) 22a, 22b comprising an internal attachment fluid passage 23 ending in a conduit mouth, a connector insert 26a, 26b comprising a mantle structure defining an internal connector fluid passage, and an annular seal component 24a, 24b for location between the conduit mouth and the connector insert 26a, 26b, the conduit mouth and the connector insert each comprising a seating surface against which the annular seal component 24a, 24b may be compressed, in use, to provide a joined fluid passage through the internal attachment fluid passage, the annular seal component, and the internal connector fluid passage. Embodiments include a connector insert as above and one or more seating surfaces on the mantle structure for a peripheral seal component 28a, 28b to be provided for sealing in the radial direction. To remove the inline component, the threaded compression nuts 18a and 18b are unscrewed. Lateral movement, transverse to the extension of the passage 17, allows the inline component 15 to be removed.
