Hardware component configuration for autonomous control of powered earth-moving vehicles
A system for autonomous control of a powered earth-moving vehicle 100a at an excavation site comprises an inclinometer 110a-d on a moveable component 104-106 of the vehicle that measures an angular position of the component. A plurality of GPS antennas 124a-b on a chassis 101 of vehicle that determine GPS coordinates for the chassis based on received GPS signals and received real-time kinematic (RTK) correction signals. A control unit 120 on the powered earth-moving vehicle includes a processor that performs computation of a plurality of hydraulic impulses based on the angular position measured by the inclinometer and on the corrected GPS coordinates. Transceivers transmit the computed plurality of hydraulic impulses to cause movement of the component of the powered earth-moving vehicle. Control may include automatically determine and control movement around a site.
