A road information display sign apparatus
A display sign 700 comprises a base 701 to engage a barrier B, wall or fence and a display 703 with display elements providing information for drivers. A display drive apparatus 702 is mounted to the base and rotates the display. The display may rotate around a vertical axis extending from the base. The base may comprise a pair of opposed legs 711 joined by a bridge 712 to form a saddle shape, and the drive may be mounted centrally on the bridge. The drive apparatus may comprise a default mechanism comprising a spring to rotate the display to a home orientation in the absence of electrical or other power provided to the drive. The drive apparatus may include a motor 710 which is offset with respect to the display longitudinal axis. A controller and sensors may detect and control the orientation of the display. At least one tethering cable 752 may retain the base to the display in the event of an impact. The drive may rotate the display to an angle according to weather and/or traffic conditions.
