Atmospheric water generator
An atmospheric water generator 201 for extracting water from atmospheric air comprising an adsorption stage 218 where moisture from input atmospheric air 221 is adsorbed by a water adsorber comprising adsorbent material 203. A regeneration stage 219 where the adsorbent material of the water adsorber is regenerated by heated air 224 such that moisture adsorbed by the adsorption stage is released in an output airstream 225. A water extraction stage 220 where moisture released in the output airstream from the regeneration stage is collected, wherein the water extraction stage has a heat pump 202 having a cooled element 204 on which moisture in the output airstream from the regeneration stage condenses, and a heat sink element configured to discharge thermal energy extracted from the cooled element. The atmospheric water generator is configured such that the heated air that regenerates the adsorbent material of the water adsorber at the regeneration stage is heated by a combination of thermal energy released from the adsorbent stage and the thermal energy discharged by the heat sink.
