Improved profile for palisade fence pales
A pale 60, for use in a palisade fence by fastening to rails between posts, is an elongate formed sheet steel member. The pale has a cross-section perpendicular to its longitudinal axis, the cross-section comprising outer wings 60W for abutting a rail 20 to which the pale, in use, is fastened. The outer wings have between them a protrusion with a central point (74, Figure 7) or two protrusions with a central valley 62 with apertures for receiving fasteners for the fastening. The wings of the pale are folded and at least one of the folds comprises an outer shoulder 65SO, an inner shoulder 67SI, or both. The ends of the outer wings may be folded over 61 into a Dutch bend. The wings may be angled to one another at 45 degrees or less. The pale may have a W cross-section or a V cross-section. The wings may be unsymmetrical with a shoulder (100SO, Figure 10) on only one face of a wing. The pale may be made from steel, stainless steel, 1mm to 3mm thick, galvanised, and/or powder coated.
