A subsea termination assembly for an umbilical, and method of assembling. Steel strands of the umbilical terminate in a cavity of the assembly and are anchored therein using a collar and filling the cavity with a filler material. The collar is attached to the steel strand using a crimped arrangement comprising an outer sleeve and inner sleeve inserts. The inner / outer sleeve may be patterned, knurled, teethed or grooved and swaged onto the steel strand to cause plastic deformation. The umbilical may carry power or fluid and the steel strand may have a central core and outer wires. The inner sleeve may comprise two half-shell inserts. Crimping may comprise axial die-compression.
