A fire door leaf 300 is disclosed which has an aperture for a window or vision panel assembly 103. The aperture has a stepped formation or profile which defines a second abutment surface 107 on which a first abutment surface on the vision panel is positioned. The aperture may extend all the way through the door leaf and the stepped formation may extend all the way around the door leaf. There is a retention formation 209 within the aperture and a groove to receive an intumescent strip 301. A vision panel or window is also disclosed which has first and second window panels and a central vision panel. A fire door containing the door leaf and the vision panel is also disclosed and there are methods of assembling the window, the door leaf, and the door containing both the leaf and the window.
