Generating image data for a real-time situational awareness system
An apparatus for generating image data for a real-time situational awareness system - for example for aviation (e.g. below wing), airport, maritime or logistics CCTV - comprises an imaging structure 102 comprising imaging device(s) 104 (e.g., omnidirectional camera) within a body 106 of the apparatus, to generate image data representing a panoramic image of an environment within which the apparatus is deployed; wireless communications module 108 to transmit the image data from the apparatus; and mounting structure 110 depending from the body to removably mount the apparatus to an object within the environment (e.g. mounted 202 in opening of a safety cone 204, Figure 2). The imaging structure may comprise multiple, n, imaging devices each having a field of view (FOV) of 360/n degrees. The body may define a hermetically sealed cavity for at least one of the imaging structure and wireless communications module; the body may be mechanically configured for explosive atmospheres. The apparatus may further comprise at least one of: an antenna; radio frequency communications transceiver; GPS module; laser imaging, detection, and ranging, LiDAR, device; accelerometer; gyrometer; magnetometer; temperature sensor; humidity sensor; light meter; microphone; and a (e.g. photovoltaic or wirelessly-charged) power source.
