Trap seal protection device
A trap seal protection device 110 may provide an evaporation barrier for a drain and reduce odours and gases emitting from the drain. The trap seal protection device 110 includes a housing 112 including a flange 182 engaging a radial surface of a drain assembly 120 to support the housing relative to the drain assembly, a gasket 114 coupled to the housing, the gasket having an outer diameter engaging an inner diameter of the drain assembly, a seal member 116 positioned within the housing and selectively forming a seal against the housing. The seal member is movable to permit fluid flow through the trap seal protection device. An axial distance between the flange and the seal member may be greater than the outer diameter of the gasket. Also claimed is a trap seal protection device comprising a housing including upstream and downstream portions, the upstream portion including a plurality of wings 180, each including a distal end having a bearing surface 182 which protrudes radially outward from the housing and engages a surface of the drain assembly, and a gasket supported by the housing for engaging an inner surface of the drain assembly.
