A SEALED MITRE JOINT AND ASSOCIATED METHOD OF MANUFACTURE
A sealed mitre joint is disclosed. It has first 120a and second 120b frame members with hollow end portions, and a corner piece 200 with first and second legs to be fitted into the ends of the frame members. There is a rafter releasably secured to the frame members, and a mechanical fastening to secure the frame members to the corner piece. The frame members and corner piece define a closed channel along a portion of the joint line, and there is an injection port 180a,b or aperture into the closed channel, for injecting a solidifying liquid sealant injected to fill the channel or conduit. There may also be an engaging or attachment surface with a guide for the rafter, and the joint may also have a vent port. The corner piece may have an upper face with a drain. The mitre joint without the rafter is also disclosed and methods for forming both joints are disclosed.
