PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid treatment unit that treats liquid efficiently.SOLUTION: A liquid treatment unit (100) includes: a treatment tank (101) provided with a liquid inlet and a liquid outlet, the treatment tank having a shape that allows a portion of liquid to be retained; a controller (118) that stops the supply of liquid into the treatment tank (101) and the ejection of liquid from the treatment tank (101) in such a state that the liquid exists in the treatment tank (101) for a predetermined period of time; and a plasma generator (102) that generates plasma in the liquid inside the treatment tank (101) while the supply and ejection of the liquid are stopped, thereby treating the liquid. After the liquid has been treated, the controller (118) resumes the supply of liquid to the treatment tank (101) and causes the liquid to be ejected while allowing a portion of the treated liquid to be retained inside the treatment tank (101).
