PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light adjustment device that is unlikely to cause uneven color or the emergence of patterns.SOLUTION: The light adjustment device comprises: a first patterning polarizer plate 21 that comprises a plurality of polarizing areas having differing absorption axis directions; a second patterning polarizer plate 22 having the same polarizing areas as the first patterning polarizer plate 21; and a phase difference plate 3. At least one of the first and second patterning polarizing plates 21, 22 is provided so as to be capable of sliding in the surface direction thereof.
