GROUND IMPROVEMENT METHOD AND GROUND IMPROVEMENT SYSTEM
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ground improvement method and a ground improvement system that ensure water drainage from an improved ground, without banking.SOLUTION: A ground improvement method is for an improvement area with a silt layer covered with a sandy soil layer, and includes the following steps for: building a cut-off wall surrounding the improvement area, to a depth reaching a bottom part of the sandy soil layer; installing a vertical drain inside the improvement area, to a depth reaching inside of the silt layer; installing an auxiliary drain inside the improvement area, for draining water inside the sandy soil layer; covering a surface of the improvement area in which the vertical drain and the auxiliary drain have been installed, with an air-tight sheet material; connecting a vacuum pump to the auxiliary drain; and starting the vacuum pump for draining water from the sandy soil layer through the auxiliary drain and from the silt layer through the vertical drain.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
