PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gabion and a gabion structure configured by the gabion that increase a contacting surface area with back soil re-filled behind the gabion, thereby effectively utilizing an earth retaining function thereof.SOLUTION: A gabion includes a rectangular parallelepiped gabion body 2 formed by a rectangular bottom surface net 3, rectangular front surface net 4 and rear surface net 5, and rectangular right side surface net 6 and left side surface net 7, and a rectangular extension net 11 extending rearward behind the gabion body 2. The extension net 11 is connected to a bottom edge of the rear surface net 5, to be inclinable between a horizontal state and a vertical state. Also, a depth dimension of the extension net 11 is equal to or less than a height dimension of the rear surface net 5.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
