PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy absorption unit capable of mitigating limitation of an energy amount capable of being absorbed through friction.SOLUTION: An energy absorption unit 1 comprises: a long member 2; an intermediate member 3 that is slidably attached to the long member 2 and has a friction generation part for contacting, when the intermediate member 3 and the long member 2 are relatively displaced, with an outer peripheral surface of the long member 2 to generate friction; and a movement limitation member 4 that is disposed at either of both ends of the long member 2 and limits relative movement of the intermediate member 3 with respect to the long member 2. At least one of the long member 2 and the intermediate member 3 is capable of being contacted with an object or a load receiving member for receiving a load from the object, or is capable of being fixed on the load receiving member.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
