PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing coating material for an inorganic porous material sealing pores with a pore size of 1 to several 100 μm in an inorganic porous material and capable of selecting water repellency, hydrophilicity and water slipping properties in accordance with conditions, and a method for sealing an inorganic porous material using the sealing coating material for an inorganic porous material.SOLUTION: Provided is a sealing coating material for an inorganic porous material composed of: a coating liquid for the first layer including water-insoluble ceramic particles, lithium silicate and water; and a coating liquid for the second layer including at least either potassium zirconium carbonate or ammonium zirconium carbonate and water.SELECTED DRAWING: None
