PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect cracks of concrete in an early stage, using an optical fiber sensor.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for detecting cracks of concrete, including the steps of: fixing an optical fiber sensor on a surface of a steel material in concrete; measuring distortions of the steel material based on the change of characteristics of a light wave propagating in the optical fiber sensor; and detecting cracks of the concrete based on the change of characteristics with time of the measured distortions.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11B
