PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric material not using lead and potassium, having a high piezoelectric constant, and good mechanical quality constant, and to provide a piezoelectric element using the same.SOLUTION: A piezoelectric material contains a main component consisting of a perovskite metal oxide represented by a following general formula (1), Zn, and Mg, in which the content of Zn is 0.005 mol or more and 0.050 mol or less for 1 mol of the perovskite metal oxide, and the content of Mg is 0.001 mol or more and 0.020 mol or less.
