PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fall prevention device for a portable article with workability enhanced by increasing a degree of freedom for fitting position to a user's belt and the like.SOLUTION: A fall prevention device for a portable article comprises: a case; and a reel 2 for winding a string-like member 4 disposed in the case, and capable of being connected, at its end, to the portable article to be prevented from falling, by energizing force of an a spring. The case comprises: an attachment base 11; and a case body 13 storing the reel 2, and provided with a drawing opening 130 on one side surface through which the string-like member 4 is pulled out.
