PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine starting device which can be operated in a smart entry system as well as a device which starts an engine by an ignition key, so that operability can be improved.SOLUTION: The engine starting device is equipped with: transmitting means 1 and receiving means 2; determining means 3 that determines whether or not an ID code is a pre-registered normal code; an operating knob 4 that can perform turning operation among an off-position, an on-position and a lock position; a holding member 5 that holds turnably the operating knob 4; and regulating means 8 that releases regulation on the turning of the operating knob 4 under the condition that the determining means determines that the ID code is the normal code. In the operating knob 4 and the holding member 5 respectively are formed convex shapes or concave shapes, and by interference or fitting of the convex shapes and the concave shapes, pressing operation or turning operation of the operating knob 4 can be regulated or permitted according to a position of the operating knob 4.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
