CERAMIC HONEYCOMB STRUCTURE, METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME, AND COAT MATERIAL
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a large-scale ceramic honeycomb structure, capable of restraining cracks from occurring on an outer peripheral wall even when a coated material is heated and quickly dried at a temperature of higher than 100°C, thereby reducing man-hour for repairing cracks, and to provide a ceramic honeycomb structure which hardly causes breakage at an end part of the outer peripheral wall during handling, and has high thermal shock resistance while securing hardness of the outer peripheral wall.SOLUTION: There is provided a ceramic honeycomb structure comprising: a cordierite ceramic honeycomb body having a large number of cells formed by a porous partition wall and extending in an axial direction and grooves extending in an axial direction; and an outer peripheral wall formed on the outer peripheral surface thereof. In the ceramic honeycomb structure, the outer peripheral wall is arranged to cover the grooves extending in the axial direction and has: aggregates comprising 70 to 97 mass% of cordierite particles and 3 to 30 mass% of amorphous silica particles; and 0.1 to 5 pts.mass of ceramics fiber and 0.5 to 15 pts.mass of amorphous oxide matrix, based on 100 pts.mass of the aggregates.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1(b)
【課題】塗布したコート材を100℃を超えるような温度で加熱して急速に乾燥した場合でも、外周壁のクラックの発生を抑え、クラック補修工数を削減できる大型のセラミックハニカム構造体の製造法、及びハンドリング時に外周壁端部に破損が生じ難く、外周壁の硬度を確保しつつ、耐熱衝撃性の良好なセラミックハニカム構造体を提供する。【解決手段】多孔質の隔壁により形成された軸方向に延びる多数のセルと外周面に軸方向に延びる溝とを有するコーディエライト質セラミックハニカム体と、その外周面に形成された外周壁とからなるセラミックハニカム構造体であって、外周壁は、軸方向に延びる溝を被覆するように配設されており、70〜97質量%のコーディエライト粒子と、3〜30質量%の非晶質シリカ粒子とを含む骨材と、骨材100質量部に対して、0.1〜5質量部のセラミックスファイバーと、0.5〜15質量部の非晶質酸化物マトリクスとを有してなることを特徴とする。【選択図】図1(b)
