HONEYCOMB STRUCTURE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD OF HONEYCOMB STRUCTURE
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb structure having anisotropic characteristics under consideration of shape, structure and the like of a casing.SOLUTION: A honeycomb structure 1 is formed by cutting a plurality of regular square columnar honeycomb baked bodies 20 in which a plurality of cells configuring an exhaust gas flow channel are arranged in a longitudinal direction of the cells through cell partitions, so that the cross-section in a direction vertical to the longitudinal direction of the cells has the shape of partially missing oval shape having two symmetric axes orthogonal to each other, and further forming an outer peripheral coating layer 40 on its outer peripheral face. Two symmetric axes configuring the oval of the cut honeycomb collection are composed of a first symmetric axis having a relatively long length and a second symmetric axis having a relatively short length. Adhesive layers 30 are disposed among the plurality of honeycomb baked bodies 20 in a lattice shape, and extending directions b, c of the adhesive layers 30 are not in parallel with a symmetric axial direction of the oval configuring the honeycomb structure 1.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
【課題】ケーシングの形状、構造等を考慮した異方的な特性を有するハニカム構造体を提供する。【解決手段】排ガスの流路となる複数のセルがセル隔壁を隔ててセルの長手方向に並設された複数個の正方形柱状のハニカム焼成体20が、上記セルの長手方向に垂直な方向における断面形状が、対称軸が2本あり、上記2本の対称軸が直交するオーバル形状の一部が欠けた形状となるよう切削加工し、さらにその外周面に外周コート層40が形成されてなるハニカム構造体1であって、上記切削されたハニカム集合体のオーバルを構成する上記2本の対称軸は、相対的に長さの長い第1の対称軸と、相対的に長さの短い第2の対称軸からなり、上記接着剤層30は、複数の上記ハニカム焼成体20の間に格子状に配置されており、上記接着剤層30の延在方向b,cが上記ハニカム構造体1を構成するオーバルの対称軸方向と平行でないことを特徴とするハニカム構造体1。【選択図】図1
