PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system that enables a lift to be instantaneously brought to an emergency stop even when a location of an emergency stop button is not known and even by a person except an operator of the lift.SOLUTION: A scream emergency shut-down system includes: a mechanism (2) that requires emergency shut-down of movable parts (4A and 4B); a microphone (54) for picking up a sound; a scream recognition module (55) that recognizes a scream on the basis of an audio signal picked up by the microphone (54); and movable part emergency shut-down means (61, 62, 64 and 65) for bringing the movable parts (4A and 4B) to an emergency stop, when the scream is recognized on the basis of a signal from the scream recognition module (54).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
