PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economically efficient icicle development prevention mechanism.SOLUTION: An icicle development prevention mechanism (2) is for preventing development of an icicle, and includes: a body part (8) having a storage part (8b) for accepting a liquid (11) from above and storing the liquid on an edge side; a support part (6) rotatably supporting the body part, such that the storage part may move between an acceptance position at a top for accepting the liquid and a draining position at a bottom for draining the liquid; and a butted part (12) butted on the body part so as to restrict movement of the storage part to a position above the acceptance position. When the liquid is stored in the storage part at an amount equal to or greater than a prescribed amount, the body part is rotated in a first direction by the weight of the liquid to move the storage part to the draining position. When the liquid has been drained from the storage part, the body part rotates in a second direction opposite to the first direction to move the storage part to the acceptance position.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
