SCANDIA-STABILIZED ZIRCONIA ELECTROLYTE FOR SOLID OXIDE FUEL CELL WITH REDUCTION ATMOSPHERE STABILITY IMPROVED
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scandia-stabilized zirconia electrolyte for a solid oxide fuel cell, which can stabilize the crystal structure of scandia-stabilized zirconia in a cubic crystal structure at an atmospheric temperature while retaining high oxygen ion conductivity that the scandia-stabilized zirconia electrolyte (11ScSZ) has originally, and which can improve the tendency of sustained degradation of ion conductivity in a reduction atmosphere, which has been a disadvantage of scandia-stabilized zirconia with an existing cerium oxide (CeO) solid-dissolved therein, thereby ensuring the stability in a reduction atmosphere.SOLUTION: A scandia-stabilized zirconia electrolyte for a solid oxide fuel cell according to the present invention is a zirconia (ZrO) electrolyte stabilized by solid-dissolving a scandium oxide (ScO) therein. In the scandia-stabilized zirconia electrolyte, one or two kinds of oxides selected from a gadolinium oxide (GdO) or samarium oxide and an ytterbium oxide (YbO) are substitutionally solid-dissolved, which improves the stability in a reduction atmosphere.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
【課題】スカンジア安定化ジルコニア電解質(11ScSZ)が持つ本来の高い酸素イオン伝導性を維持しながら、スカンジア安定化ジルコニアの結晶構造を常温で立方晶構造に安定化させるとともに、既存の酸化セリウム(CeO2)を固溶させたスカンジア安定化ジルコニアの欠点であった還元雰囲気での持続的なイオン伝導度の劣化特性を改善して還元雰囲気での安定性を確保することができる、固体酸化物燃料電池用スカンジア安定化ジルコニア電解質を提供する。【解決手段】本発明に係る固体酸化物燃料電池用スカンジア安定化ジルコニア電解質は、酸化スカンジウム(Sc2O3)が固溶されて安定化されたジルコニア(ZrO2)電解質であって、酸化ガドリニウム(Gd2O3)または酸化サマリウムの中から選ばれる1種または2種の酸化物と、酸化イッテルビウム(Yb2O3)とが同時に置換固溶されて還元雰囲気安定性を改善することを特徴とする。【選択図】図3
