PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system that can easily install communication means by an inexpensive and simple structure in a wide range of sewer pipe networks, and can construct the communication system with an excellent communication state.SOLUTION: The monitoring system in the sewer line is configured to include a communication sonic transmitter 12a disposed in a manhole 2 disposed at a distance from each other in the sewer line 3 and to transmit an ultrasonic wave P from one manhole 2, a communication sonic receiver 12b for receiving the ultrasonic wave p transmitted from the communication sonic transmitter 12a by the other manhole 2, and a water level information detector 13 for detecting the water level information D of sewage circulating within the sewer line 3 based on a communication state received by the communication sonic receiver 12b.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
