PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration damping device capable of simplifying the structure of a connecting part connecting a plurality of plate materials while suppressing the occurrence of bending moment, and improving assemblability.SOLUTION: A vibration damping device includes: a plurality of first plate members 10A to 10C connected in parallel with a first connecting part 12 and attached to one of lower structural members 3; a plurality of second plate materials 11A, 11B connected in parallel by a second connecting part 13 and attached to the other of an upper structural member 2 and the lower structural member 2 and arranged alternately with the plurality of first plate materials 10A to 10C; and a resistance generating member 14, which is positioned between a first plate material 10A to 10C and a second plate material 11A, 11B adjacent to each other and generates resistance force to the plurality of first plate materials 10A to 10C and the plurality of second plate materials 11A, 11B by the relative horizontal movement thereof. The first connecting part 12 is provided at each of both end parts 17 of the plurality of first plate members 10A to 10C in the horizontal direction, and connects the plurality of first plate members 10A to 10C at both end parts 17.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
