PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide ceramic material providing desirable mechanical strength in combination with excellent thermal shock resistance which comprises a relatively low amount of a tialite phase.SOLUTION: The present invention includes: a ceramic composition, optionally in the form of a honeycomb structure; ceramic precursor compositions suitable for sintering to form the ceramic composition; a method for preparing the ceramic composition and ceramic honeycomb structure; a diesel particulate filter comprising the ceramic honeycomb structure; and a vehicle comprising the diesel particulate filter.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
