To provide an adiabatic material and a vacuum heat insulation material having improved adiabaticity.SOLUTION: There are provided an adiabatic material 10 containing silica particles heat treated by a silanization agent having a linear hydrocarbon group having 1 to n+1 carbon atoms represented by the following formula (1), and a vacuum heat insulation material 1 in which the adiabatic material 10 is vacuum encapsulated in an outer coating material 12 consisting of gas barrier film.
