To provide a molten metal furnace capable of being reduced in weight, further, easy in maintenance and capable of reducing a furnace repair construction period.SOLUTION: Provided is a holding furnace 1 comprising: a holding chamber 2 holding a molten metal 10 obtained by melting aluminum in a melting furnace; and a plurality of lining materials 3a to 3g provided at an inner wall 2a of the holding chamber 2 and made of a thermal insulation material. Among the plurality of lining materials 3a to 3g, the lining material 3a provided at a face in contact with the molten metal 10 is made of a ceramic fiber-containing thermal insulation material 11, the lining materials 3b to 3g other than the lining material 3a made of the ceramic fiber-containing material 11 are made of a calcium silicate-containing thermal insulation material, the face of the thermal insulation material 11 in contact with the molten metal 10 is laminated with a talc-containing non-penetration material 12 to which the molten metal 10 is hard to be penetrated, and the face laminated with the non-penetration material 12 is further laminated with a refractory material 13.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
