To provide a method capable of detecting concrete deterioration early and simply.SOLUTION: An early detection method detects concrete deterioration by using a pattern appeared in an image of maximum main strain distribution obtained through (A) an image acquiring step and (B) a maximum main strain distribution acquiring step. (A) The image acquiring step acquires, with age, a digital image on an acquisition object surface of concrete. (B) The maximum main strain distribution acquiring step calculates strain on the basis of the digital image by using a digital image correlation method and obtains a maximum main strain distribution on the basis of the strain.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
