To provide a center pillar retainer which can protect a shutter against damage and deformation by strong wind such as a typhoon or a tornado or vandalism by a riot, a thief or the like and easily strengthen a function of an existing shutter at low cost, and has wind resistance, crime preventing property, operability and durability.SOLUTION: A center pillar retainer 1 including a lower fixing mechanism 5, an upper fixing mechanism 6, and a relay mechanism 7 which are provided along a center pillar 4, comprises: a first upper mechanism 5d having a lock mechanism 5db for blocking the upward movement of a handle 5c; lower projecting portions 5b, 5b formed at lower ends of lower metal rods 5a, 5a; a fitting mechanism 5j having an engagement hole 5ja; upper projections 6b, 6b provided on upper ends of upper metal rods 6a, 6a; and the relay mechanism 7 relaying the lower fixing mechanism 5 and the upper fixing mechanism 6, allowing upward movements of the upper metal rods 6a, 6a when pushing down the handle 5c, and allowing downward movements of the upper metal rods 6a, 6a when lifting up the handle 5c.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
