To provide a valet key capable of securing convenience during key operation, and a valet key control method.SOLUTION: A valet key 41 communicates with a portable terminal 22, and acquires key information Dx or validates a key function in the case of having no key information Dx or that the key function is not validated. On the other hand, the valet key 41 communicates with a car sharing device 23 of a vehicle 1, and operates the vehicle 1 through radio communication in the case of having the key information Dx or that the key function is validated.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
