To enable workers to perform construction easily in a river.SOLUTION: A groin work 1 comprises a first structure 11 that is a wall body disposed upstream of a target region S where a water flow of a river is to be decelerated, and a second structure 12 that is a wall body disposed downstream of the target region S and away from the first structure 11. The first structure 11 includes a first wall body 111 having an upstream part 1111 that approaches the left bank of the river as it goes downstream, and a second wall body 112 having an upstream part 1121 that contacts the first wall body 111 on the upstream side and approaches the right bank of the river as it goes downstream. The second structure 12 includes a third wall body 121 having a downstream part 1211 that approaches the left bank of the river as it goes upstream, and a fourth wall body 122 having a downstream part 1221 that contacts the third wall body 121 on the downstream side and approaches the right bank of the river as it goes upstream.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
