To provide a building in which a shaft can withstand a collision of flying objects entering from an opening.SOLUTION: A building 1 comprises: an outer wall portion 8 having a thickness equal to or greater than a specific dimension; an opening portion 4 horizontally opened in the outer wall portion 8 and allowing gas to flow between the inside and the outside; a shaft 5 extending from the opening portion 4 to the inside; a bent portion 13 changing the direction of the shaft 5; and a back wall portion 15 forming a contact surface 14 of the bent portion 13 and having a thickness equal to or greater than half of the specific dimension.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
