To provide an operation detecting device for a vehicle that can prevent an opening/closing operation of an opening and closing body due to incorrect detection of an operation of a user.SOLUTION: A control circuit 35 of a detection device 30 detects a first operation when a sensor electrode with a variable electrostatic capacity out of a plurality of sensor electrodes 31, 32, 33 switches to a first direction D1, and detects an authentication operation when an electrostatic capacity in an authentication electrode (the first sensor electrode 31) including the one or more sensor electrodes changes in a predetermined manner. The control circuit 35 makes a vehicle door perform an opening operation when continuously detecting both of the authentication operation and the first operation.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
